With the help of the Black Angels, Austin, Texas has developed a reputation for being the home of modern psychedelic rock, and that reputation continues with another psychedelic rock band from Austin, Black Forest Fire.
Interestingly, the band formed when lead singer, Jay C. Tonne, Jr. dared drummer Karen Schloss to pull out the drum kit she said she owned every time that they ran into each other. And during that first night’s jam session, they wrote songs which will appear on their debut effort, Transit of Venus. They then recruited their friend, bassist Doug Walseth to flesh out their sound.
“Live News Feed,” is the first single from the band’s debut, and I think it’s a great example of the band’s murky, ominous drone.
